Preppy US brand, polo ralph lauren is planning on establishing an e-commerce presence in China and elsewhere in Asia. It joins an increasing number of western brands keen to meet demands of wealthy Chinese customers.
Starting with it¡¯s first company owned store in mainland China, the luxury brand will also be looking for locations in a number of Chinese cities including Beijing and Shanghai.
Accounting for only nine per cent of the group¡¯s revenues, polo ralph lauren UK now plans to make changes in an effort to increase performance in Asia. Previously handled by licensees, the company has now taken control and is set to start opening high-profile stores inline with its luxury brand image ¨C these stores will also sell accessories, home furnishings along with high fashion women, men¡¯s and children¡¯s wear.
